BPO Call Center

What is Call Centre?

A Call Centre serves external customers who need to make purchases, obtained information or assistance on product use, status request, and billing issues. The Call Centre was born as a sales function, a major distinction between a Call Centre and a Help Desk. Unlike the Help Desk, the Call Centre has always had a 'business-focus, playing an integral role in customer satisfaction, retention and loyalty, as well as profitability for the organization

Government model call centre

To commence the implementation of the BPO Roadmap, the Government of Uganda allocated funds for setting up a Government-owned call centre where operators can hire space to run their business. It aims at supporting companies that primarily serve onshore and offshore clients, and can demonstrate practical plans for expanding existing BPO operations either individually or in partnership with foreign investors. This is intended to accelerate the creation of jobs and income for the youth and revenue for Government in fulfillment of the Presidential Directive on BPO.

The BPO facility will initially cater for a 90 seat Call Centre, employing about 300 people at commissioning. Space will also be availed to other BPO operators, where possible, to provide other BPO services (other than Call Centre services) so as to employ more people.

The incentives to be provided by Government in the centre include rental space, turnkey call centre solution (including furnishing), Internet bandwidth, and clean power and backup power at subsidized costs.
