The main objectives of the project are to:
- To set up an infrastructural network that can support the BPO Industry in Uganda;
- To market Uganda as a preferred BPO destination within the region;
- To establish partnerships with the private sector to enable the sustainability of the industry once it is set up;
- To develop a critical mass in terms of Human Resource to sustain the industry.
- To set up a policy framework for the BPO industry in Uganda.
Expected outcomes
The expected outcomes of the project are:
- Creation of employment;
- Increase in government revenue;
- Increased investment in infrastructure and skills development;
- Increased economic development;
- Poverty reduction
As part of the continuing effort to fulfill its pledge of developing the BPO industry in Uganda, the NRM Government has provided funding during FY 2010/11 towards the following:
- BPO Skills Development
- Setting up a model BPO Centre in Kampala
- Developing BPO Governance Frameworks, including the review and update of the BPO Strategy and Model for Uganda, and the development of BPO Standards and Accreditation Guidelines
- Branding and Marketing of the BPO Industry
- Sensitization and Awareness on BPO
