The Governance Frameworks that will be developed will include:
- Review and Update of the BPO Strategy and Model for Uganda;
- Standards, accreditation guidelines and regulations;
- Policy guidelines and monitoring plan;
- Guidelines/frameworks for Government Incentives on BPO.
Creation of Awareness of Government BPO Programme
To create awareness on the opportunities created by BPO, Government has been engaging the youth, BPO operators and other stakeholder to ensure maximum benefits of the Government intervention are realized. A National Technical Working Group on BPO has been created to spearhead this process.
From the experience of developing the BPO industry in similar countries, e.g. Egypt, India, and Ghana, it is clear that Government will provide continued support to the industry in order to grow it to the level where at least 30,000 people can be employed in the next 3 years.
Government is also committed to the development of IT Business Parks around the country to create jobs in areas outside Kampala.
