Friday, July 7, 2017

Ministry of Finance Planning and Economic Development (MoFPED) has handed over the IFMS Disaster Recovery Site to National Information Technology Authority, Uganda (NITA – U).

This is in line with the strategy of rationalization of Information Technology Services across Government Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) where one of the key interventions  is provision of centralized Data Center Hosting and disaster recovery services.

Speaking at the handover Ag. Assistant Account General Godfrey Ssemugooma said that the Ministry of Finance Planning and Economic Development (MoFPED) will cease to manage the infrastructure.

“This will not only save money but it will also give us a chance to concentrate on our core role

which is to deliver services to the people of Uganda”

NITA-U Executive Director, James Saaka said that NITA-U will now work on upgrading and expanding the site and turn it into a National Disaster Recovery Site.
