With the completion of Phase III of the National Backbone Infrastructure (NBI) we have established connectivity to two additional border points of Uganda with, Tanzania at Mutukula and Rwanda at Katuna. Under the same Phase, NITA-U extended connectivity to seventy nine 79 MDAs and LG sites along the Western route
These entities are now able to access and utilize internet bandwidth and lease line services through the NBI. Additional support is being provided through the development, maintenance websites as well as capacity building of personnel in MDAs and LGs.
The MDAs and LGs connected to the NBI will from 1st July, 2017 benefit from drastically reduced internet bandwidth costs from USD300 to USD 190 as a result of the procurement of bulk internet bandwidth by NITA-U under RCIP.
