Paliamentary ICT Committee visits NITA-U
The Parliamentary ICT Committee visited NITA-U offices as part of the orientation program for them to get to know the operations of the Authority
The MPs met with the Board and Management of NITA-U for an overview of the status of programs and projects that are currently implemented by NITA-U.
Speaking at the meeting the Board Chairperson Dr F. Fredrick Tusubira emphasized NITA-U’s commitment to advance e-Government initiatives to improve Government efficiency in service delivery to citizens.
This will be done with the right IT infrastrure in place like the NBI which is now operational and in its third phase of implementation and through integration of Government systems.
As part of the orientation program the MPs also toured a number of installations under the projects that are currently implemented by NITA-U; (NBI/EGI installations)
• MAN Centre
• NBI Data Centre
• Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) Centre at Statistics House
• Network Operation Centre
Chairperson ICT Committee Turyahikayo Mary Paul said that their team is in place to provide political oversight and guidance to ensure ICT development in the country.
